CeloNova BioSciences (f/k/a IMED Devices,
Inc.) -
Newnan, GA
CeloNova BioSciences ("CeloNova"), founded in 2000, develops
advanced coatings for coronary and vascular stents. The coating of
the stents prevents restenosis, a premature reclosure of the artery
after a stent is inserted that occurs in approximately 30 percent of
patients using non-coated stents. CeloNova has exclusive North
American and non-exclusive worldwide licensing rights to a new stent
coating polymer, Polyzene F. Sirolumus and Paclitacxal, which are
the two stent coatings available on the market today, are
biologically active in nature. Polyzene F, which is passive in
nature, can be used as a drug delivery system for various drugs.
Clinical results have shown that Polyzene F prevents blood clots
from forming on a variety of medical devices coated with it and that
Polyzene F has anti-microbial properties.
